About David
David gets his energy from creating plans to solve people’s problems. “It’s been a passion of mine for many years. Over time I’ve had the opportunity to do it at a product management level, then an insurance portfolio level. Now I’m able to leverage that knowledge to help professionals and business owners manage risk while solving their estate, tax and succession challenges.”
Having started in the industry as an advisor fresh out of university, David changed paths and moved to head office working in investments before switching to insurance. He first worked in disability income ahead of taking on the universal life portfolio at Sun Life before heading their individual health insurance line of business. After nearly 23 years at Sun Life, he joined Manulife to manage their Canadian retail insurance product line.
Capitalizing on a long-held desire to re-visit his roots as an advisor he took the opportunity to join a group of advisors working as insurance consultants in 2019.

Working as an insurance consultant is a great way to bring my experience and knowledge together in continuing my relationship with advisors and my industry connections.”
In addition to his deep life insurance knowledge David is an expert in living benefits having served as the co-chair on the CLHIA committee that introduced benchmark definitions on critical illness insurance. A significant portion of his business is derived from implementing disability solutions for the clients with whom he works.
David is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University and has completed his RHU designation. When he’s not busy with his insurance practice you may find him pedaling along a back-country road or trekking around northern Ontario with his family.
